Welcome Alexander Michael! We are glad to have you here! Just some things I looked up...
You share a birthday with...
Ben Jonson (English Playwright)
Nelson Mandela (South African President and Civil Rights Legend)
Gene Wilder (American Actor)
In 1184 BC the Greeks captured Troy on your birthday. In 1770 AD, Captain Cook ran aground on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. In 1981, Baseball players went on strike at midnight on your birthday. A year later on your birthday the movie ET was released. In 1987, Margaret Thatcher became the 1st British PM in 160 years to win a 3rd straight term.
Welcome Alex Michael! Congratulations Dineen and Mike! A truly happy day for all.
Woo, I say, woo hoo!! Oh Alex, you have no idea how much you're going to be loved. Trust me, it'll be fantastic. You'll probably get a little weary of them from time to time -- especially your dad, believe me, I understand -- but know that you really lucked out when you drew this pair of folks.
(Congrats, Dineen and Mike. Get some rest.)
Uh, Tom? I don't think the ancient Greeks even had a June. :-p
Hi, Alex! I know the big world is a lot brighter and noisier and less comfortable than what you're used to, but we do have iPods and we do have chocolate. You'll find out in due course. Welcome, and enjoy your stay!
Congratulations Mike & Dineen! And welcome little baby Alex!
Hello, dear Alexander. Welcome to the world.
I'm looking forward to meeting you, and watching you grow. (And spoiling you rotten.)
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Dineen! And Mike too! Congrats!
Take pictures every week. You won't regret it! Congratulations and enjoy.
Yay!!! Congratulations!! *hands out bubblegum cigars*
Welcome welcome, Alex. Remember that no matter how big you get or how old you are, no matter what you do...
It will be posted on the Internet. So watch it. ;)
Awwww ... what a gorgeous little family you guys have there. Congratulations!
Splendid news! Best wishes to all of you.
have you made him wear the cowboy hat yet?
Congratulations, guys! I'm so happy for you.
Michelle and I would love to have all three of you over for dinner whenever you like. We'll bake another shepherd's pie. You bring the strained carrots. =)
Best wishes to Baby Wasylik.
CONGRATS TO YOU GUYS!
And a hearty welcome to Alex, the newest addition to the neighborhood. There will be no shortage of new playmates, that's for sure!!
"Okay, Alex. Let's start with arguments. Finding 100 years of precedent is always good, but making the jury love you is even better. We'll get in evidentiary rulings later, but for now, practice the wild gestures and booming voice. Repeat after me. 'I'm out of order?! This whole court is out of order!'"
Er. Too early for that?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Alexander Michael! You are too adorable for words. Best wishes to all of you!
Congratulations, Mike and Dineen! Your friends at work are SOOOO happy for both of you. And welcome, Alexander Michael! You are absolutely adorable!
Big healthy boy with a big strong name! Awesome! Congratulations!
This is great news! Congratulations to both of you, especially to Mom, who must have worked very hard! I'm going over now to look at pictures of the little football... :)
"Eh grunt squeak" from Zachary, my 6-week-old to Alex. Congratulations, Mike! May he bring you years of happiness and not too many annoyances ;)
I emailed everyone I knew just hours after Zachary was born and blogged it.
CONGRATULATIONS Mike and Dineen!
Congrats guys! I am happy for both of you. Mike looks so proud. Enjoy Alex, this is a wonderful time.
Julien and Gabriel want to know when Alex can come over and play.
Many congrats to you both! And be sure to buy Alexander a basketball sometime soon...it's never too early to start working on the fundamentals. ;)
YAAAAAY! Welcome to the world baby Alex! You are very lucky to have two great parents!
I can't wait to meet you in person when you come visit in September!
Congratulations!!!! Perhaps one day our Maya and your Alex will put each other on their blogrolls.
Congratulations! So very, very cool.
Wow, what great news. Nice work you two! Welcome Alexander!
Yay!! Congratulations on your new baby!!!
How wonderful - best wishes to all 3 of you!!
Congratulations, you guys :)
So who won the Birth Pool?
Congrats! His bday is already in my PDA. ;-)
How cool! Congratulations to both of you and your families. I expect the little dude will be joining us next year at SXSW, no?
Thanks to everyone for kind words! Although there's no internet access in the hopsital, I've stopped home briefly twice and each time have printed out these comments for Dineen to read.
As far as the baby pool goes, no one guessed that particular time slot, but it looks like the closet guess (Wednesday 9:00am - 12:00pm) was our nieghbor John, who also correctly guessed that we would have a boy. (No extra points for that!)
Basketball? Not likely, unless there's a secret baller in Dineen's family. More likely Alex will learn to wrestle and play guitar.
As for a trip to Austin in March, I'll see if I can get him on a panel about pre-natal blogging. And I'll definitely have to get him a fake ID for Chuy's.
Billy, never too early for a briefing on fundamental persuasion skills, but remember, it doesn't matter if the jury loves you if the judge won't let them hear the case.
Tom, very cool way to greet a newborn. Very cool.
Lyn, if you're keeping a compilation of personal data of friends, isn't that subject to federal regulation? =)
Congratulations, Mike and Dineen - this is the greatest news!
Congrats guys! and Welcome Alexander!!!
"The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create."
Thank you for creating a beautiful future.
Congrats! He's beautiful! Best of luck... :-)
Congratulations and welcome. The two of you will be great parents and offer Alex a great home.
So I'm coming very late to the party, but CONGRATULATIONS. You all are too cute for words. Well done, all.
