In 1184 BC the Greeks captured Troy on your birthday. In 1770 AD, Captain Cook ran aground on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Posted by: Tom Bridge on June 12, 2003 07:42 AMWoo, I say, woo hoo!! Oh Alex, you have no idea how much you're going to be loved. Trust me, it'll be fantastic. You'll probably get a little weary of them from time to time -- especially your dad, believe me, I understand -- but know that you really lucked out when you drew this pair of folks.
(Congrats, Dineen and Mike. Get some rest.)
Posted by: TheBrad on June 12, 2003 07:48 AMUh, Tom? I don't think the ancient Greeks even had a June. :-p
Hi, Alex! I know the big world is a lot brighter and noisier and less comfortable than what you're used to, but we do have iPods and we do have chocolate. You'll find out in due course. Welcome, and enjoy your stay!

Best wishes to Baby Wasylik.
CONGRATS TO YOU GUYS!
And a hearty welcome to Alex, the newest addition to the neighborhood. There will be no shortage of new playmates, that's for sure!!
Posted by: John & Kirsten & Kate on June 12, 2003 10:54 AM"Okay, Alex. Let's start with arguments. Finding 100 years of precedent is always good, but making the jury love you is even better. We'll get in evidentiary rulings later, but for now, practice the wild gestures and booming voice. Repeat after me. 'I'm out of order?! This whole court is out of order!'"
Er. Too early for that?
Posted by: billy on June 12, 2003 11:00 AMHAPPY BIRTHDAY to Alexander Michael! You are too adorable for words. Best wishes to all of you!

I emailed everyone I knew just hours after Zachary was born and blogged it.

So who won the Birth Pool?
Posted by: Michelle on June 12, 2003 06:40 PMCongrats! His bday is already in my PDA. ;-)
Posted by: Lyn on June 12, 2003 09:40 PMHow cool! Congratulations to both of you and your families. I expect the little dude will be joining us next year at SXSW, no?
Posted by: Kevin on June 12, 2003 09:41 PMThanks to everyone for kind words! Although there's no internet access in the hopsital, I've stopped home briefly twice and each time have printed out these comments for Dineen to read.
As far as the baby pool goes, no one guessed that particular time slot, but it looks like the closet guess (Wednesday 9:00am - 12:00pm) was our nieghbor John, who also correctly guessed that we would have a boy. (No extra points for that!)
Basketball? Not likely, unless there's a secret baller in Dineen's family. More likely Alex will learn to wrestle and play guitar.
As for a trip to Austin in March, I'll see if I can get him on a panel about pre-natal blogging. And I'll definitely have to get him a fake ID for Chuy's.
Billy, never too early for a briefing on fundamental persuasion skills, but remember, it doesn't matter if the jury loves you if the judge won't let them hear the case.
Tom, very cool way to greet a newborn. Very cool.
Lyn, if you're keeping a compilation of personal data of friends, isn't that subject to federal regulation? =)
Posted by: Mike on June 12, 2003 11:49 PMCongratulations, Mike and Dineen - this is the greatest news!
