Spoon
Posted by Dineen on September 18th, 2005 filed in AlexWe just got back from some errands, and Alex had fallen asleep in the car. He woke up when I took him out, but was a bit sleepy. He asked for some milk, so I filled up his sippy cup, and then he crawled into my lap for not-quite-awake cuddles. We moved to the rocking chair, and then he went to take a sip of his milk and it dripped all over the place. I unscrewed the top, and sure enough, the valve had slipped out of place and fallen to the bottom of the cup. These cups are great, except that they are too deep to retrieve the valves with your fingers if they rattle loose. So I said (mostly to myself) “I need a spoon to get this out of here.” Alex said “OK!” and got out of my lap, went into the kitchen, dragged his step stool over to right in front of the silverware drawer (leaving enough room to open the drawer), opens the drawer, takes out a spoon, gets down, and comes right back to me waiting in the rocking chair. (I had snuck out of the chair to see what he was doing in the kitchen — wish I had the camera!).
What a little helper!
