It’s a….

Oh c’mon! We didn’t find out with Alex, why would we find out this time?? Still, thought it would be a good thing to look at the same predictors and see what the old wives have to say about the whole thing….

If you go by:
Fetal heart rate — the baby’s heartbeat has been pretty consistently on the slower side, which is supposed to indicated boy. Also, at the midwives office the other day, the midwife guessed boy based on how long it took her to find the heartbeat.

My face — Supposedly, “Boys give beauty, girls take it away.” When I was pregnant with Alex, I had lots of skin issues. This pregnancy, I really am glowing, and my skin has been pretty clear. It could be the climate, it could be my new skin care regime, or it could be a boy in there!

Chinese Horoscope — There are lots of these tables on the web. This one says its a boy, this one says its a girl. I guess that makes it a draw. My age at and the month of conception (32 and March, respectively, for those who want check out other charts) aren’t changing, so we’ll see.

Mayan Legend — I read this one in a magazine at the doctor’s office when I was pregnant with Alex. If the year of the mother’s birth and the year of conception are both odd or both even, it’s a girl. If not, it’s a boy. Baby was conceived in 2005, I was born in 1972. Another vote for boy.

So far, they all lean toward boy, pretty much. We have been working hard on coming up with boy names, as we hardly discussed it last time — Alex’s name was set without much discussion before I was even pregnant with him, so we didn’t really have to talk through the boy name process.

Of course, last time they all predicted girl, and Alex is definitely 100% boy. In fact, Katie said to me “whatever those predictors say, I am betting on the opposite.” The bottom line is, we will be absolutely thrilled either way!
