“I am going to be a big brother!”

This morning, after breakfast, Alex crawled into my lap right at the kitchen table, gave me a blueberry-stained kiss, and declared “I am going to be a big brother.” This tells me that (a) he at least somewhat gets the books we have been reading with him and all the talks I have been having with him about the baby coming, and (b) I have the sweetest, smartest, blueberriest little boy ever.

On Saturday, we went shopping, and Alex caught sight of an octopus stuffed pillow/toy that somewhat matches the octopus painted on the walls in the baby’s room. So I grabbed it and said “do you want to give this as a present to the baby when it comes?” and he agreed that was a good idea. Thumper already has a present to give Alex, too. Things are starting to come together!
