It was at this point in my pregnancy with Alex that he was born. Of course, it was a day I picked, not a day he picked, so who knows how much longer I might have gone if I had been more patient.

I did make a visit to local YMCA this afternoon to take advantage of their guest pass policy and try a little bit of flipping around in the pool to try to get Thumper to turn around. Handstands, headstands, summersaults, floats, I did it all. Did the baby move? I am not sure. The baby was certianly moving a lot, but I can’t quite feel whether it was enough. The top of my tummy feels harder and bigger and lower. I am scheduled to have another ultrasound on Thursday if the baby doesn’t come before then, and I will insist on an ultrasound at the hospital if we go there before Thursday (or after, for that matter!) to confirm baby’s position before I consent to a repeat cesarean section.

It’s pretty much out of my hands. I have done and will continue to do (with slightly less craziness) a lot to get Thumper to turn, but if it doesn’t happen, I figure there has to be a reason for that as well.

In the meantime, we wait.

Keep the faith, Dineen! You have a great attitude about what I’m sure must be somewhat of a personal disappointment to you (I say only “somewhat” because, after all, you are still going to have a baby in the end)!

Some babies are said to only turn just before labor starts, so you never know. Thumper may still be a VBAC! I am very happy for you that you have a supportive labor team about this…in Holland, my sister-in-law was told she *had* to have a C-section when they found the baby breech at 38 weeks, and also strongly encouraged her to have the C-section at 39 weeks so that labor wouldn’t be initiated if the baby were to remain in that position. The baby was fine, and the c-section was OK, but the Mom was definitely disappointed.

I myself was a breech baby, butt first, and the doctor turned me *during* labor. Very dangerous, and definitely not done anymore. And I’ve seen some pictures of breech deliveries on the internet, and indeed it looks very dangerous/freaky (I know it’s *not* an option).

If you will require a repeat C, it’s still a LOT different this time…this time, should you require it, you know it was BEST for the baby’s (and your own) safety.

Hang in there, and know we’re keeping you in our prayers that Thumper arrives safely and healthy!!

    Love,
    Connie
