Spring Training
Posted by Dineen on March 7th, 2006 filed in UncategorizedGiven that on at least one occasion the first words out of Alex’s mouth in the morning was “I want to go to a baseball game,” I jumped at the chance to buy us tickets to a Yankee’s spring training game this afternoon. It was fun to play hookey and watch the players do their thing. Alex would get so excited whenever a batter took a swing, and loved watching them catch pop flies. He also enjoyed ballgame food — a frozen banana, some popcorn, some hot dog. He also enjoyed the Seventh Inning Stretch, during which they sang Alex’s beloved “baseball song,” more commonly known as “Take me Out to the Ballgame He bahaved very well for 9 whole innings.
Oh, and the Yankees won.

How did Nate do? It seems like you are in a good window, where Nate will likely just sleep through something like this, and Alex will have a lot of fun. In a few months you will be stuck in the nosy infant stage, where Nate doesn’t want to sit still and doesn’t nap as much (sorry, I’m mostly just lamenting about the loss of my sleepy infant and the appearance of a girl who won’t sit still!). Oh, congrats to the Yankees, but boo because they beat the Twins, who are still mourning the loss of Kirby Puckett so I’m sure that is the only reason they lost ;).

Nate did great — he is at that very easy infant stage where I can just put him in a carrier and he is happy as a clam so long as I make sure to take plenty of nursing and diaper changing breaks. Easy to do in the stands!
