Outgrown
Posted by Dineen on April 10th, 2006 filed in Mommy MusingsIt did not bother me one whit when Alex outgrew clothes or toys, because I knew I was going to have another child. So, I dutifully packed the too-small-stuff into containers, labeled them, and didn’t give them a second thought. When I was pregnant with Nate, I had such fun pulling out and laundering the old clothes, fixing up the swing, the bouncy chair, the play mats. I enjoyed every bit of it.
But now, Nate is already outgrowing clothes, and at a rapid rate. The first outfit I bought for him, a pair of adorable tiny little denim overalls and a white collared shirt, is about two or three inches too short on the legs, and at least an inch too short on the arms. He wore them today, and logically I know it has to be the last wearing and they have to go away. But where? I’ve saved all of my maternity clothes for the time being, and just can’t quite bring myself to let go. Will we have another child? I don’t know. Sometimes I feel done, sometimes I don’t.
For now, I guess the garage. Grandparents, don’t get your hopes up. We aren’t making any decisions just yet, and don’t plan to until Nate is quite a bit older. Still, it is so much harder to let go of the baby things this time around. Whether that is a sign, I honestly don’t know.
