Egg Hunt Block Party

Our neighborhood had a little block party today to celebrate Easter, and boy was it a lot of fun. It was great to hang out with the neighbors we are already friends with, and to get to know some more neighbors. The woman who organized it did an amazing job — she had three grills going in her driveway under one tent, another big tent on the green, two big blow up water slides, several hundred plastic eggs for an Easter egg hunt, and much, much more.

Nate spent most of the time in the sling, and also napped on the lawn for a while. Alex ran around like a fool and really enjoyed the water slides. He was way to busy to eat lunch, and the afternoon went approximately like this:

2 pm:
Mommy: Alex, do you want a hot dog?
Alex: No, I playing.

3 pm:
Mommy: Alex, do you want a hot dog?
Alex: No, I playing.

4 pm:
Mommy: Alex, do you want a hot dog?
Alex: I want a cookie.
Mommy: You can’t have a cookie until you eat a hot dog.
Alex: But I want a cookie.
Mommy: You can’t have a cookie until you eat a hot dog.
Alex: I want a hot dog.

4:15 pm:
Alex: (after wolfing down a hot dog and some fruit) I want a cookie.
Mommy: You may have a cookie.

4:20 pm:
Alex (after eating a cookie): Can I go play, Mommy?

After another hour or so of playing in the water, I took Alex home to get dry clothes on, and then he ran around a bit longer and attempted to play basketball with our neighbor Alexander. He then asked for and ate two more hot dogs, a bunch more fruit, a little macaroni salad, and, of course, another cookie. He fell asleep within minutes of head hitting pillow tonight, let me tell you!
