Noooorm!

Okay, so I am dating myself with the 80s sitcom reference. But when Alex arrives at his current day care, it totally reminds me of the greetings Norm on Cheers used to get when he arrived at the Boston bar. The other kids start screaming “Alex! Alex!” and get so excited. They jump up and down, they clamber to hug him. He has made some good friends there. The kids are darling.

It is going to be very, very, very (did I mention very?) hard for me to take him away from that support group. I know it is the right thing for him, pedagogically, and for our family, on so many levels. He seems excited about the prospect of going to a new school, and chatters about it every time we drive by the new place. He likes the idea of he and Baby Nate going to the same school. But I just know those first few days, as he comes to realize that he won’t be seeing his old friends and teachers every day, are going to be hard on him. On us all. And I don’t relish it.
