Literal, Yet Abstract
Posted by Dineen on May 23rd, 2006 filed in AlexNate stayed home sick with Mama today, but I still went to pick Alex up from school when the time came. The director, Mr. Mike, relayed to me a cute story about a conversation he had with Alex. Earlier in the day, Alex and Mr. Mike were in the lobby, near the entrance to the baby room. Alex said, pointing at the door “There’s Baby Nate!” Mr. Mike explained that no, Baby Nate isn’t here today, he is home sick with Mommy. But Alex was insistant. Finally, after a few back-and-forths, he walked up to the door and pronounced BABY. NATE. RIGHT. HERE. — and pointed to a polariod the teachers had taken a few days earlier of Nate playing in the high chair. Mr. Mike had to sheepishly admit that Alex was right, Baby Nate was indeed right there, on the door, for all to see.
