X Marks the Spot

Alex isn’t supposed to play with the dowels that help keep the books on the rotating bookshelf, as he well knows, but I couldn’t help but be proud of the way I caught him playing with them today. He pulled two out, placed them on the floor criss-crossed, and proclaimed “I made an X, Mommy!” I was able to snap a picture. I tried to get him to tell me what he made for posterity and the video is not as cute as the original that is seared into the movie in my mind. Video or no, it is a great memory — I am so pleased that he both recognized the letter X (which is in his name, so he should!) and saw that he could make one in such an abstract way.
