Break Out the Ice Cube Trays…

Nate is ready to eat!! Since we started solid foods in the form of rice cereal on Father’s Day, Nate has been much happier and has been greedily gobbling down all food offered. Well, that’s not quite true, I was informed yesterday: once we started the sweet potatoes, he really stopped wanting to have anything to do with rice plain cereal. He is however, crazy about the aforementioned sweet potatoes, and will almost even self-feed very soft banana. So today I went shopping at the organic store and bought a butternut squash, another sweet potato, more bananas, some pears, and some peaches to cook up. The squash is in the freezer in cube trays as I type, the sweet potatoes go in next, and I am going to make the pears later today and introduce them over the weekend. I love the whole “freeze it in cubes” thing, which I did for Alex’s food as well — perfect portion control! I was so excited at Wild Oats that I had to stop myself from buying every fruit and vegetable in sight. This part is fun, for us both! Or should I say, all — even Mike said to me yesterday, “does this mean it is time to bust out the stick blender?” Not quite he is not yet worked up to meats and beans and blends — but the ice cube trays, definitely!
