Alex the Brave

During the fireworks last night, Alex came up to me and proclaimed “I brave, Mommy!” And he was. Some of the other kids in our group of neighbors celebrating the Fourth together were pretty hysterical over the fireworks, but Alex just kept exclaiming “ooooh!” and “Ohh!” and “Wow!” and just loved it.

Of course, after I was all glowy from his self-awareness, he continued: “See, my face is smooth. I brave.” As he rubbed his cheek. It took me a minute, but then I realized where that was coming from: Daddy lets Alex “shave” when they shower together with the back of the razor (no blade).

So I explained it all to him. But he was both brave and clean-shaven. And cute as cute can be.

    Very cute! I’m so glad I got to meet you Friday night and I look forward to getting together soon. We have so much in common it was the first thing I told my husband when I got home from the booksigning.
