Literary Reference

Alex can be silly, and certainly, he inspires plenty of laughter with his antics. But today methinks he told his first real live joke. Even better, he did it with a literary reference. I made pizza for dinner, and Alex held up his slice and made a giggly noise. I asked Alex what he was doing, and he replied “when the Pizza is tickled, it laughs like crazy!” Sadly, Mommy didn’t get it at first, but then Daddy pointed out that that is a line from Pete’s a Pizza, an adorable William Steig story that has gotten a lot of play in our house as of late.
