I’m calling it

I would say Alex is officially potty trained. Yes, there is still the occasional accident here and there, but he has woken up dry all but maybe two days in the last two weeks, and we haven’t touched a pull up or diaper since our big breakthrough weekend. He is so proud of himself in the mornings when he wakes up dry; he excitedly comes to our room to exclaim “I stay dry!” (He also compliments mommy and daddy on waking up dry, I should add).

Since Alex has been using the potty regularly, and insisting on standing up to pee, I have realized that there are some advantages to being a boy. When we are in public restrooms, I don’t have to worry or get grossed out nearly as much as I would if I had a little girl trying to use the toilet. Even on a big toilet, he can sidle up to it on his tiptoes (and has pretty good aim!) and doesn’t have to sit at all. And in the extreme emergency, it is a lot easier for a little boy to do his business in a bush.
