The Big Sleep

Alex pulled what a friend of mine calls “the big sleep” last night. He fell asleep in the car on the way to an errand at around 3:30, and never really woke up fully. After being a zombie through the errands, he went straight to the couch and fell asleep at around 5:30. I tried to wake him for dinner, but no dice. Mike finally moved him to his bed at around 8:30, and I braced for a wet bed since his last trip to the potty had been at Home Depot at around 5. I aso worried he would wake up starving in the middle of the night, especially since he only ate maybe a fourth of a PB&J and some apple chips for lunch.

He woke up at 2 am, dry but needing to go, with no mention of food at all. After a trip to the potty with some help from Mommy, he went back to sleep on his bedroll on our floor. Woke up happy and smiling at the usual time.

Go figure. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were measurably taller today or something, after that extra sleep. Though he was still pretty miserably tired through dinner and bath tonight. This transition to no naps at all is tough. Hopefully an uninterrupted nights’ sleep will help in that regard. Poor kid has bags under his eyes!
