Open Mouth, Insert Fingers
Posted by Dineen on August 25th, 2006 filed in NateNot long after Nate started eating solid foods, he picked up a finger sucking habit. I think it was originally his way of helping whatever goo I had inserted into his mouth go down easier. Then he realized it was soothing, and started doing it even when he is not eating. It makes it impossible to feed him neatly — between each bite, in go the fingers. Then they come out and get run through hair, on his shirt, or all over his face before they can be wiped clean. He doesn’t have a preferred hand, so far as I can tell; he uses them interchangably. It isn’t thumb sucking, it is the two pointer and middle fingers. And nowadays, it can be difficult to get a picture of him without said fingers in his mouth.
Hopefully this is something he will grow out of without issue.
