Are we going to a wedding?

Thankfully, Alex didn’t give me a hard time about getting ready for our family portraits today. I explained to him that after his bath he would put on a button shirt for pictures and he seemed to understand that it wasn’t permanent and that it was something he could just put up with for a few hours. But as I was buttoning up said button shirt, Alex looked up at me and with deadpan seriousness asked — are we going to a wedding? I guess Aunt Keri’s wedding made a very big impression!

In the meantime, Nate was fine with his button shirt and the sweater vest as well. We weren’t all quite dressed when our friend Robyn arrived, but she set up her fancy schmancy lights and such while we finished getting ready, and we were all about ready to go at the appointed time.

Of course, getting two parents, a pre-schooler, an infant, and a Yorkie to all look at the camera at once with a decent look on their faces is quite a feat. The term herding cats comes to mind.

Still, I am sure something good came of it. I am so glad we get the better end of the deal — in exchange for helping Robyn build her portfolio for her new business, we get excellent, professional photos taken in our own home for a reduced sitting fee. Yay! We got a sneak peak at two of the pictures tonight, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the proofs. I would share, but I don’t want t give away all of our Christmas presents!
