Band of Heathens

No, that’s not my description for the boys, it is the name of a great band we discovered at the Austin airport as we were leaving sxsw this year. When I was writing all about the legacy of our time in Texas this year, I glaringly omitted our wonderful time watching the Band of Heathens do an acoustic set as Alex and Nate danced along. As previously mentioned, we liked them so much we bought their CD, and Alex has taken to requesting their music in the car. At first, he would demand “I want Austin Texas Band!” Mike worked with him to learn their proper name, and now instead he more politely asks “Can we listen to Band of Heathens, please?” Today in the car, continuing his recent funk-a-dellic ways, he donned his sunglasses to bop and sing along to Track 13 of Live at Momo’s — Jenny was a Keeper — over, and over, and over again. Thank goodness we live in the age of camera phones. The sound quality is poor, but you can at least get a flavor of what we witnessed. Yeah, he’s a keeper!
