D is for…

Nate is ripping right along with learning his D words. Of course, they all sound alike to any but the most discerning ear (ie, Mommy) but he is attempting to say Da da, dog, and the latest, Dora. I am a little embarrassed that my 16 month old can name Dora. I don’t generally plop him in front of the TV except to watch Signing Time videos (which, by the way, he is suddenly enthralled with and works hard to do the signs along with!), but he does sometimes putter about while Alex is watching Dora. I wasn’t 100% sure that he was meaning anything by it when he was pointing to Alex’s toothpaste tube and proclaiming “Daaaaa! Daaaa!” but any doubt was erased this afternoon when he toddled into Alex’s classroom, walked right up to one of Alex’s classmate’s hanging backpack, pointed to Senorita Explorer and proudly proclaimed “Daaaaa!!”

In other vocab-building news, Nate is also starting to move beyond D words. He has started to say “Uh Oh!” pretty clearly (where it used to be just “uh uh!”), and I swear he is saying car.
