Thanks, BOB!

Alex’s recent interest in reading prompted me to dig out a book store gift certificate and pick up the first two set of BOB Books for him. They are a set of really simple stories for new readers. The first one is as simple as it gets: Sam Sat. Mat Sat. Sam Sat on Mat. The End (there are a few more pages than that, but that’s the gist and level!). They build on each other, adding more sounds and concepts as they go on.

And he is doing it! He gets frustrated easily, and tends to guess based upon the context (generally, he guesses much bigger and more complex words!) but he is getting better each day. I am trying very, very hard not to push him too hard. But when he isn’t claiming he is too tired, and is focused, he can read an entire Bob Book. Go Bob!
