Happy Turkey Day!

No, not Thanksgiving– that was two days ago. Today is Turkey Day in our house. Our tradition has evolved that we generally go out to dinner on Thanksgiving with Grandma and Grandpa, no mess, no stress, just nice family time together. The only downside to that tradition is the lack of leftovers. So, I have taken to making a turkey with all the fixin’s on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We lounge around the house, watch the Florida-Florida State game (this year: boo, hiss!), and enjoy a full traditional thanksgiving-esque dinner with all of the leftovers and none of the fancy china, worry about the mess or fitting everyone at our table, or timing issues. This year I had a particularly bad week at work leading up to Thanksgiving, which revealed just how much easier our Thanksgiving/Turkey Day tradition is — I never could have had the energy on Wednesday night to do all the necessary prep for a Thursday feast. But on Friday night, I had two days off of work under my belt already, and was in a much better mindset to get it all done.

I am thankful for Turkey Day.
