Busted!
Posted by Dineen on December 6th, 2007 filed in Family FunTonight we had a bit of a last minute shuffle, as Mommy absolutely needed her dry cleaning to have a suit to wear tomorrow, and the dry cleaner closes at 7, and Mommy was late coming home. THe solution was that mommy would go directly to the dry cleaners, while Daddy stopped home to quick walk the dog, and then pick up the kids, and then meet Mommy near the dry cleaners so that we could grab a quick bite out to eat. I arrived at the cleaners at 6:45, and there was a container of lolipops. Now, normally lolipops don’t tempt me at all, and I avoid giving them to the kids as well. But for some strange reason, I decided a pineapple-coconut dum dum was just what I needed right then. I even said aloud “I would never let my kids have this, and here I am, stealing one.” My plan was to give it a few licks, then throw it out on my way out the door with the clothes.
But Mike surprised me by parking and bringing the kids right to the dry cleaners. I look up to hear cries of “Mommy!” and two little ones running toward me on the other side of the glass. So I quick dropped the lolipop in my purse (sans wrapper, and still wet I might add. Ew.). But, it was too late. The second Alex walked in, he said “what were you eating? Can I have it?” The dry cleaning ladies were laughing hysterically at how busted I was.
And so I gave it up and gave Alex my lolipop (cleaned it off quickly first). And even gave Nate one. I know there is a lot of double standards in parenting, but I wasn’t really up for trying to carry on the moral high ground at that moment. One lolipop won’t kill them!
