Happy New Year!

Last night as we were driving to friends’ house to ring in the New Year, I marveled that you know you are in Florida when it’s December 31st and you are wearing shorts as the kids make a game of spotting orange trees heavy with fruit out the car window (the oranges look almost like Christmas decorations!).

We had a lovely evening of dinner, a little wine, a little football, a lot of kids (six, altogether, as we also had our first official sleep over watching one of Alex’s neighborhood playmates for his Mom, who had to work!), a little Scrabble, and a touch of champagne to ring in the New Year. All of the other kids fell asleep before midnight, but my little men were wide awake waiting for the ball to drop. Well, Alex was very heavy lidded by 11:50, but Nate was standing in front of the TV rocking out to Carrie Underwood. How’s that for a mental image? But it was so nice to kiss all of my sweeties as the ball dropped. They even let me sleep in jut a bit this morning, which was a nice little treat. Then it was palacsinta for all, and off for a pleasant lunch with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Katie. All in all, a wonderful way to ring in the new year, and hopefully a nice preview for the year to come — with oodles of time with good friends and family.

Wishing you all everything that is good and great for 2008.
