Missing Nate

In the past three days, I have heard two dear stories about how the kiddos left behind in the Toddler room when Nate moved up to preschool 1 are affected by his absence. On Saturday, I ran into Taylor’s mom at a third kiddo’s birthday party, and she told me that Taylor tells her every day how much he misses Nate. It was actually quite sad to hear! He will be moving up soon. It cracks me up because Taylor is so sensitive and gentle and slow to warm up to people, and Nate is a bit of a bully, almost. He has no qualms about snatching a coveted toy from Taylor, and needs to be watched for his grabbiness. But, Nate is very loving toward Taylor too, so I hope and pray that he is kind despite the sometimes brash exterior.

Then today, the Toddlers teacher pulled me aside to tell me about the conversation she and Kayla’s mom had with Kayla, explaining to her that she will be moving up to Preschool 1 this week. Kayla, it’s the big girl room! “No!” Kalyla, you get to use the big playground. “No!” Kayla, you get to meet new friends. “No!” Kayla, Nate’s in that class. “Nate? Nate! I go see Nate!” and off she went to check it out.
