My kid is much hipper than I am
Posted by Dineen on May 21st, 2008 filed in Alex, Family Fun, Movie StarsTonight while he was in the tub, Alex asked me “Mommy, can you sing the Apple Bottom Jeans song?” I had not a clue what he was talking about. He explained that it was a song Miss Shelbey (the late afternoon teacher) had on her phone. I told him I didn’t know it, and as I was trying to look up what the heck he was talking about, he exclaimed “wait, I remember now!” and started singing (the video is a re-take, but you get the drift):
So I looked up the song and learned that it is actually called Low, by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain. I so seldom listen to the radio anymore that I didn’t know it was a recent number one hit. Learning that made me feel OLD! Here’s a semi-kid friendly video of the entire song, though you will get the drift from the first 35 seconds (not all lyrics past that point are kid friendly, but the visuals to the particular video certainly are!):
Aaanyway, Mike found the song online, and the boys had a dance party right after their bath. By the time they had heard the song twice, even Nate was singing “Low, low, low, low, low, low, low…” while moving his booty to the floor.
MAY 22 UPDATE: As cute as Alex is, I was a wee bit disturbed that he learned this song at day care, no doubt. I asked at the school today what the story was. I was told that the teacher had the chorus of the song as a ring tone on her phone, and one day her phone rang and the kids went nuts over it, so they did an impromptu dance party with her cell phone playing just the chorus over and over again. The kids continue to request it, apparantly.
