I take requests…

I grew up in a household where music was important. We sang together, a lot, and I loved it. Some of my strongest memories of early childhood are of sitting in the backseat of my parent’s orange Datsun B2-10 with the vinyl seats and letting the sounds of them singing together drift over me. So I have tried so share some of that feeling with my own children. I sing a lot of the same songs that my parents sung to me, and they are learning them.

What I love is that the boys have now started requesting certain songs. Nate often will just start spontaneously singing “Moon shadow, moon shadow!” Alex’s current faves are Rocky Raccoon and the Beatles’ Nowhere Man.

Yesterday, we were making a quick stop at Sam’s Club to pick up dinner and Alex asked “Mommy, please sing Rocky Raccoon!” So we sang it together, followed by Moon Shadow, the three of us singing and enjoying each other’s company and oblivious to the shoppers around us.
