Five Year Check Up

Alex checked in as a perfectly lovely specimen of 5 at his five year check up today.  He has a bit of a cold, which means he still needs to go back for vaccines before school starts in August.  But aside from that, he was great.  He’s 42.75 inches tall and weighs 41 pounds, which is right at the 50th percentile for both measurements for his age.  His blood pressure was fine.  And he had no problem peeing in a cup on command (one instance, I think, where it is easier to have a five year old boy than a five year old girl!). 

I will also take this opportunity to point out that Alex takes being five very seriously.  Since his birthday, he has gone out of his way to display a level of maturity that he believes is fitting for a five year old, and it really shows.  Both Daddy and I have told him as much, which makes him just beam and try even harder.  It’s a little over the top at times in his interactions with Nate, but not intentionally so.  I am truly blessed with his behavior lately, and I hope this attitude continues through the summer and into the school year!
