Getting ahead of himself

For most kids, the first word they learn to spell tends to be their first name, if not something really simple like car.  Not Nate. He goes for the big ones.

This morning he came into our room and, pointing to the wall, said: W-A-S-Y-L-I-K.  He was looking at the artwork hanging over my dresser — Spanish tiles Mike and I bought on our honeymoon that spell out our last name.  I asked him, “what’s that spell?” And he responded “Wasylik!”  Nate, how do you spell Wasylik? W-A-S-Y-L-I-K. “Who’s Wasylik?” “Me! Nate Wasylik!”

Now, to get him to spell Nate…
