Alex’s take on the election…

Who is going to win? It depends on which election you are talking about. The election they had in class today? Goodnight, Moon all the way, baby. He’s confident the classic will take the day. (The results will be in on the “best book” voting tomorrow). And that’s who got his vote.

The presidential election? Alex declares he wants it to be a tie. That was what he told us over dinner. When we asked him why, he explained that he wanted both Mommy and Daddy to have their guy win. He said he wanted one of them to be president and the other one to be “the second guy.” We actually had an interesting talk about how it used to be that way, but our country changed the rules because that made it too difficult. I also explained to him that I would rather see any candidate win outright then to have it be a tie or otherwise close, because of the effect that might have on our country. He replied that he still wanted a tie because he wanted Mommy and Daddy both to be happy. At that point, I let it go, telling him that I was really proud of him for having an opinion and that he doesn’t have to agree with me.
